REFLECTIONS
Gospel Reflection on Mark 1:29-39

Mt Athos, Healing Peter’s Mother-in-Law
In Mark 1:29-39, we witness Jesus' compassionate ministry as He heals Simon Peter's mother-in-law, and later, the sick and demon-possessed from the surrounding region. Despite the demands on His time, Jesus makes time for prayer and solitude, recognizing the importance of communion with His Father. When His disciples find Him, Jesus explains His purpose: "Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out."
This passage invites us to reflect on Jesus' example of compassion and balance in ministry. He not only tended to physical and spiritual needs but also found solitude for spiritual nourishment.
Let us emulate Jesus' compassion in our own lives. May we prioritize spending time with God through prayer and seek to serve those in need with a caring heart. Jesus' example reminds us that our ministry should flow from a deep connection with God, and our purpose is to proclaim His message of love and salvation to all.
