REFLECTIONS
Gospel Reflection on Mark 1:40-45

Jesus Heals the Leper
In Mark 1:40-45, we encounter a powerful account of Jesus' healing and compassion. A leper approaches Jesus, pleading for healing and saying, "If you will, you can make me clean." Touched by compassion, Jesus stretches out His hand and says, "I will; be clean." Instantly, the leper is cleansed, and Jesus instructs him to tell no one but to show himself to the priest as prescribed by the law.
This passage invites us to reflect on Jesus' boundless compassion and His ability to bring healing and restoration. His willingness to touch and heal the untouchable demonstrates His love and mercy.
May we approach Jesus with faith, like the leper, believing in His power to heal and make us clean. Let us also learn from Jesus' compassion, striving to extend love and kindness to those who are marginalized or suffering. Ultimately, Jesus invites us to experience His healing touch and to share His transformative love with others, testifying to His redemptive work in our lives.

SAINTLY STORIES
Blessed William Carter: Martyr of the Printed Word

Blessed William Carter
Blessed William Carter, a courageous figure in the history of the Catholic Church, was an English printer and publisher during the tumultuous times of the Reformation in the 16th century. Living in an era when Catholicism was harshly persecuted in England, Carter boldly used his skills in the printing trade to support and propagate the Catholic faith. He published various Catholic texts and materials that were critical of the Protestant Reformation, taking a significant risk to keep the Catholic doctrine alive amid widespread suppression.
Carter's unyielding dedication to his faith eventually led to his arrest by the authorities. He was falsely accused of treason, primarily due to his religious convictions and activities. Despite the danger and the harsh treatment he endured in prison, Carter remained steadfast in his faith. In 1584, he was unjustly executed, becoming a martyr for the Catholic Church. His unwavering commitment and sacrifice were recognized in 1987 when he was beatified by Pope John Paul II. Today, Blessed William Carter stands as a symbol of resilience and fidelity to faith, inspiring Catholics worldwide to uphold their beliefs even in the face of adversity.
